Inside the Business: Screamin’ Eagle

When one of Waldoch Crafts & Customs’ customers asked the award-winning restyling shop to make his black 2009 F-350 take on part of the persona of his Screaming Eagle Harley-Davidson, the Forest Lake, Minn., company took up the challenge. Waldoch’s team worked with the customer to understand exactly what he wanted. “He left the rest of the designing up to us,” says Jenna Smith, marketing, design and sales specialist.
“We spent a lot of time in the shop brainstorming and planning what would make this truck stand out,” she continues. “We took our ideas to the customer and came up with a blueprint.
“Multiple, different custom paint areas (hours' and hours' worth of time), additional chrome accents, changing and moving the exhaust, more power, more show! Anyone who is a Harley enthusiast can tell that this truck is based off the Harley Screaming Eagle bike. When the truck and the bike stand side by side, they are basically an identical match.
“From the eagle head painted down the front fender, the Harley-Davidson wording down the rear fender, the Screaming Eagle head across the tailgate, miniature flames in the gray striping, to the Harley-Davidson emblem on the hood, all minute details added to make the custom paint job stand out and match the original motorcycle.
“Beyond the details of the paint job, we finished the truck off with a lift kit, wheels and tires.
“This was a tough job with a very rewarding outcome. We are glad we could give the customer what he wanted. And we know he likes it because he shows it off, and it sure stands out in any parking lot.”
Waldoch’s work not only more than pleased the customer, it brought the highest recognition from the judges at Restyling magazine who awarded the restyler with the First Place: Truck honor in the 2010 Restyling Awards.
